On June 13, 2010, five-year-old Tageana disappeared from Niagara Falls, New York after being kidnapped by her mother, Patricia "Tricia" Griffith. She and the girl's father, Tigen Griffith, had joint custody.
In 2009, Tricia took Tageana to Jamaica for what was supposed to be a vacation, and spent the summer there without Tigen's knowledge or consent.
When they returned to the United States, the court confiscated Tageana's passport. They returned the passport to Tricia in June 2010, and within a few days, Tricia took Tageana back to Jamaica.
Both Tricia and Tageana were born in that country, but Tegeana is an American citizen.
Tricia returned to the United States alone a few months later and was arrested at the airport. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison for kidnapping her daughter. However, Tageana wasn't recovered and the judge didn't order her mother to return her to the United States.
Authorities believe that Tageana is being cared for by Tricia's mother, Marcia Rose Robertson, or possibly by other family members in Jamaica. Tigen and U.S. Marshals went to Robertson's home in Montego Bay, Jamaica in late 2010, hoping to recover Tageana, but they found the house deserted.
Marcia Rose Robertson (born on October 3, 1965) is described as an African-American female with brown hair & black eyes, is 5'6 and weighs 190 pounds. She wears eyeglasses and partial dentures. Her ears are pierced and she speaks with a heavy Jamaican accent. She was 36 years old in 2010.
Tigen is still active in the search for his daughter. Tageana is presumed to still be in Jamaica, but her whereabouts are unknown. Her case remains unsolved.
Tageana is described as an African-American female with black hair & brown eyes, weighs 45 pounds and is 3'11. She has pierced ears and may style her hair in cornrows or braids, with barrettes or bows. Her nicknames are "Tag" and "Taj."
