One-year-old Vinyette Trudy Teague was last seen playing in the seventh-floor hallway of her family's apartment building at Robert Taylor Homes (which was located in the 5000 block of South Federal Street; it has since been demolished) in Chicago, Illinois on June 25, 1983.
Vinyette's parents left her in the care of her grandmother the evening of her disappearance while they went to a drive-in movie. There were an estimated 50 people in the hallway when Vinyette's grandmother left her alone for a few minutes to answer a phone call.
When her grandmother returned, Vinyette was gone and has never been heard from again. Investigators believe that she was abducted by a non-family member.
She is described as a African-American female. Her height is 2'8 and her weight is 27 pounds. She has black hair, and brown eyes. Vinyette's hair was in short braids at the time of her disappearance. Her nickname is Yinny. Her ears are pierced. She was last seen wearing a multicolored striped tank top, brown and yellow flowered pants, and no shoes or socks. She was born on December 8, 1981. She would be 38 years old today. As of 2020, her case remains unsolved.
